Alleged Bondi Beach Attackers Operated Alone and Did Not Undergo Training in the Southeast Asian Nation, Police Confirm.

The pair of accused individuals responsible for the fatal shooting at a Jewish gathering on Bondi Beach, which claimed 15 lives, appear to have operated independently, as stated by national police.

Police also confirmed that the 50-year-old Sajid Akram, and his 24-year-old son Naveed Akram, 24, flew to the Philippines on 1 November. Their itinerary involved landing in the capital Manila before transiting on the day of arrival to Davao City. The pair flew back to Sydney on 29 November.

Lack of Proof of Training During Stay

Authorities indicate the pair did not receive any form of terrorist training or "planning" during their time in the Philippines. Early investigations from Philippine officials indicate they "hardly ventured out of" their hotel.

The attack—described as Australia's most severe firearm massacre since 1996—has been officially classified as a terrorist incident.

"We are currently reviewing the footage," she said, explaining that early evaluations indicate that "these individuals are suspected to have been lone actors."

Australian Federal Police Chief Krissy Barrett told reporters on Tuesday that CCTV footage tracking the alleged gunmen's movements in the Philippines had been handed over to domestic authorities.

"Our investigation shows no evidence to suggest these alleged offenders were part of a wider organization, or were acting on orders from overseas entities to carry out an attack," she said.

Yet, the pair were likewise not in the Philippines on a leisure trip, the official clarified. She emphasized that, given that the probe is ongoing, new evidence may surface.
